It is a joy and a blessing from God to have a baby. It is a miracle to observe how life begins. Responsible parents wonder what the future holds for the new creature as he/she arrives into a world of good and evil.
Suddenly parents realize that, beside all the joy and amazement of the birth and becoming a father and a mother, comes great responsibility to care, provide and nurture the new baby thru the years of growth, formation and education until the child is old enough to go thru life on his own.
From the beginning parents have to encourage children to be themselves, with responsibility, individuality and independence to prepare them for the hard life ahead.
As parents we must not confuse true love with spoiling them, overwhelming them with material things and giving in to their demands and tantrums or try to solve all their problems. In order to keep them from becoming selfish and demanding, children should not be allowed to grow up thinking that all they have to do is demand things and it is the obligation of the parents to oblige them.
Parents have the duty to teach what is good behavior and what is not, what the rules are, what is good and what is bad. We are harming them if we do not do this.
"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." Prov. 22:6
IT WILL CONTINUE.
